Concepts Change
As I worked on this some more and interfaced with Byron, it became clear that the layout would have better flow and more actual space if rotated to the C-shape shown on the Layout Design page. We have conferred several times and the new concept is now the driver for the CAD effort that he is performing.
I've managed to squeeze the major structures I wanted as well as several smaller ones into this concept. Byron is working out the track details, grades, etc. Since this is similar to the original design intended for Oregon, the only issue has been the 40% less area to utilize for the layout.
I'm expecting that the CAD design and documentation will be completed shortly and hope to really start the layout build. No major obstacles remain for this to happen.
As of today, I have 3 of the 4+ major sections of the benchwork complete. I will have to wait a week or two to do the rest as I have some items on the floor that are in the way. Onward!
