What! No Progress?!
Yeah, that's basically correct.
I've been putting off this blog entry for a while as it will sound more like excuses than anything else.
My mother died last May, just before Mother's Day, after a long illness. While it was a relief in some ways, it is definitely a heart-stopper. The layout took a distant backseat to the rest of my life. My Dad is 78 now, in generally good health, but he had an episode on Thanksgiving. I'm 3 hours away, so the burden of watching him is left to my brother and sister who are much closer. Due to winter weather, I usually can't get to him from October to March, so the rest of the year I try to get there once a month. I call him more often, but it's not the same. It's that time again.
As to the layout, I had a small setback during the winter. The back wall that I had filled with foam and covered with sheetrock, had a leak. Turns out the foam on the outside of the building in one spot formed a channel into the structure for water. Once I plugged that but it took a while to clean up the mess (mold, etc) on the wall.
I've been doing a lot of research on the prototype I'm mimicking, the Oregon Pacific. It turns out that, while it had a short history, if I follow the roads that took it over, the Oregon and Eastern and the Corvallis and Eastern, I can get more details.
I've compiled a list of possible towns, have some pictures and diagrams of several sights, etc. Now I need a design.
I think I'm going to turn the actual design effort over to someone who does it for a living. I'm stuck trying to fit a concept into the space. Hopefully, someone more experienced will be able to do it.
